Which foldable device should you purchase in India: the OnePlus Open or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5?

OnePlus introduced its inaugural foldable smartphone in India during the "Open for Everything" event on October 27. This smartphone is in direct competition with the current leader in the foldable device segment, the Samsung Z Fold 5, which was launched in July this year.

Here are the specifications for the OnePlus Open: The OnePlus Open features a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid AMOLED display with a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 120 Hz to 1 Hz. It also comes with a 6.31-inch Super Fluid AMOLED cover screen with a dynamic refresh rate of 120 Hz, which can drop to as low as 10 Hz.

OnePlus's latest foldable device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, coupled with an Adreno 740 GPU. It offers 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 ROM for storage. The smartphone runs on a 4,805 mAh Dual-cell battery that supports fast charging with 67W SUPERVOOC Charging from OnePlus.

In terms of its camera capabilities, the OnePlus Open features a 48 MP primary camera with an f/1.7 Sony LYT-T808 lens. The primary sensor supports optical image stabilization (OIS), HDR, and EIS. Additionally, the foldable device offers a 48 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 64 MP telephoto lens.

OnePlus's foldable smartphone also boasts an impressive software support package, including four years of Android operating system updates and five years of security patches.

As for the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 sports a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It also includes a 6.2-inch HD+ cover screen with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display, 402ppi, and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that can vary from 48Hz to 120Hz.
