The government of Sikkim has commenced the issuance of permits for visits to Nathula and Lake Tsomgo.

In the latest update, the government of Sikkim has initiated the process of granting permits to tourists for visiting Nathula and Tsomgo Lake.

A tourism department official mentioned that while the lower regions near the Teesta River have been affected by flash floods, the higher-altitude areas remain accessible to tourists.

Furthermore, the issuance of permits for tourists to explore Tsomgo Lake and Nathula has recently started. In addition to these destinations, popular tourist spots like Pelling, Namchi, Ravangla, Dara, and South Sikkim are also open to visitors.

The official also suggested that tourists consider taking the Lava-Kalimpong route to enter Sikkim, as the NH10 connecting Siliguri in West Bengal to Gangtok is currently blocked on the West Bengal side. State PWD officials anticipate that NH10 will reopen within a week, but it's important to note that NH 10 from Singtam to Rangpo Border is currently operational.

Furthermore, on Tuesday night, areas such as Tsomgo Lake and Kupup experienced snowfall. Regarding Tsomgo Lake and Nathula: Tsomgo Lake, often referred to as Changu Lake, is a stunning high-altitude glacial lake situated in the Indian state of Sikkim. Positioned at an elevation of 12,313 ft, this pristine alpine jewel is not only a natural wonder but also holds significant cultural importance for the local population. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush alpine forests, Tsomgo Lake turns into a frozen wonderland during the winter months, attracting visitors with its tranquil beauty. It is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the summer, offering breathtaking views and serene experiences.
