Qualcomm introduces a Windows laptop chip enhanced with AI capabilities that are expected to outperform Apple's Mac processors in specific tasks.

Qualcomm unveiled a chip designed for Microsoft Windows-based laptops on Tuesday, emphasizing its competitive edge over Apple's Mac processors in specific tasks, according to Reuters. The forthcoming Snapdragon Elite X chip, set for release next year, has been revamped to optimize its performance in artificial intelligence tasks, including email summarization, text generation, and image rendering.

These AI capabilities will also be integrated into Qualcomm's smartphone chips. This move aligns with the intentions expressed by Alphabet's Google and Meta on Tuesday to harness these advancements, as reported by the agency.

This development comes after a recent Reuters report revealed that Microsoft has encouraged Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Advanced Micro Devices to create new chips capable of accommodating a range of innovative AI features in Windows, which is the most widely used PC operating system globally.
